A barrel is the cheapest honest way into a real sauna, and the question this page settles is whether a 6ft one belongs in your garden rather than which version to buy.
Delivery & installation
Delivery is available across the UK and the charge is confirmed for your postcode in writing before anything is dispatched. Offshore and some remote postcodes cost more, and we tell you the figure before you commit rather than after.
The sauna arrives as a kit on a pallet, delivered by lorry to the kerbside or the nearest firm, level spot the driver can reach. From there the parts move by hand: the staves, the two end walls with the door fitted, the benches and the boxed heater. Two people carry everything. The maker's own figure for the whole kit is about 325kg, which we have not yet weighed ourselves.
Installation can be arranged where you would rather not build it yourself. Once you place your order we confirm the delivery and installation options for your location, and nothing is dispatched until you are happy with both.
Warranty
Almost Heaven publish a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on the sauna room itself, one year on the heating elements and five years on other components.
How that is administered in the United Kingdom, and by whom, is being confirmed in writing before this sauna becomes buyable. Until it is, treat the terms above as the maker's published position rather than a Tarnfell undertaking.
What no sauna warranty covers, here or anywhere: timber moving, splitting slightly or greying outdoors, which is cedar behaving normally rather than failing; sauna stones, which are consumable; and damage from installation on a base that is not flat or not load bearing.
Returns
Until the order is placed with the supplier you can cancel and be refunded in full, with no reason needed.
After that the sauna is on its way, and our returns policy sets out exactly where that leaves you. Check the pallet on the day it arrives, count the parts against the list in the manual, and tell us about anything damaged or missing within 48 hours; anything that arrives damaged or faulty is ours to put right either way.
Who this is actually for.
Every product here is described with the honest opposite beside it: who it suits, and who should be looking at something else.
Two benches face each other across a 6ft barrel, and four adults fit if two of them are friendly. The heater, the stones and the interior light are in one price, so the only other trades you need are a slab and an electrician.
Worth confirmingyou want to lie down. Each bench is about 1.6 metres of usable length, which seats two and stretches out nobody. The Princeton is 580mm longer inside and is the one to look at if lying flat matters.
This arrives as a kit. The maker's own guidance is two or three people and a few hours, working from the printed manual, on a base you have already laid. Nothing about it needs a specialist trade until the electrician arrives.
Worth confirmingyou want a cabin delivered finished and switched on. Nothing in a barrel comes pre-assembled, and a wet Saturday with a mallet is part of the purchase whether you swing it or pay somebody to.
The product that gets used is the one worth recommending, and it is not always the largest one.
The measurements that decide it.
Read this before anything else. Things this size are almost never sent back because they were the wrong product; they are sent back because they were the wrong size for the space.
The base is the one to respect. Almost Heaven's own instructions ask for a foundation that is flat and able to carry more than 1,000 pounds, which is about 454kg, before anything is stood on it.

Base, access and your electrical supply are agreed before the order is placed. You arrange the base and the circuit; we confirm the delivery cost for your postcode and the lead time in writing.

The base and the circuit
A flat, load bearing slab or two strip footings, laid and cured. An electrician runs a 35A single phase circuit to the position and leaves it ready to terminate. Both are yours to arrange and both need to be done before the pallet lands.
- Delivery day
Kerbside, on a pallet
A lorry brings one pallet to the kerbside or the nearest firm, level spot it can reach. Check the pallet against the parts list in the manual on the day and tell us about anything damaged or missing within 48 hours.

Two or three people, a few hours
Cradles down and levelled, staves laid up, end walls fitted, bands tensioned, benches in, heater hung. The maker's own guidance is two or three people and a handful of hours. We can arrange installation instead.

The electrician returns
The heater is terminated and the circuit tested and certified. Outdoor circuits and rooms containing a sauna heater are notifiable work in England and Wales, so you should be handed a certificate.
What owning one actually involves.
The handful of things that decide whether this is still in use in year three.
A flat, load bearing slab about 1.9 metres square, or two strip footings, laid before the pallet arrives. Almost Heaven ask for a foundation rated above 1,000 pounds, roughly 454kg, and a barrel that is not level will not band up straight.
Cedar is naturally durable and is normally left unfinished outdoors, where it weathers to silver grey over a season or two. That is the timber behaving, not failing, and it needs no treatment.
A barrel sheds water on its own curve, which works as long as nothing sits on top of it. Under trees, leaf litter and standing damp collect along the crown and stay there. Six feet of clear sky above it is worth more than any treatment.
The maker's figure is 180°F, about 82°C, in less than an hour from cold, and the heater's built in controls will delay the start by up to eight hours so it is hot when you get in.

Heat up: 6kW for 1 hour is 6 kWh. Holding: 1.5 hours at roughly 40% duty is 3.6 kWh. Total 9 kWh at 26.11p is £2.35. Winter costs more, a warm evening less.

104 sessions at £2.35. The single biggest lever is not the tariff, it is whether you heat it for one person or four, so a shared session halves the cost per head without changing the bill.
stones and a jacket
Sauna stones are consumable and are restacked yearly and replaced when they crumble, normally every few years. Beyond that a barrel has no filter, no pump and no chemistry, so there is nothing else on a schedule.
Assumptions: electricity at the Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.11p per kWh, 1 July to 30 September 2026, including VAT. Heat up and holding figures are calculated from the heater's rated 6kW output, not measured on an installed sauna. A barrel is single skin, so it draws more when it is cold outside.

Reasons to buy something else.
Delivery is by lorry to the kerbside. A shared private road, steps to the kerb or a narrow lane can mean the pallet stops somewhere you then have to carry a kit from.
This is one dedicated circuit, not a socket. If the consumer unit is full, or the run is long, the electrician's bill is the part of this purchase that varies most.
Each bench is about 1.6 metres of usable length. Four can sit; nobody can stretch out. The Princeton is 580mm longer inside and is the honest answer to this one.
Cedar left outdoors goes silver grey within a couple of seasons. Nothing stops it, and treating a sauna exterior is not something the maker asks for.
