We sell at your price. Always.
For manufacturers and distributors

We sell at your price. Always.

Tarnfell is a British retailer of outdoor wellness equipment, built for makers who would rather have their product explained properly than discounted quickly. This page is the whole proposition, without the sales gloss.

What you get from us

Four commitments, and the first one is the one that matters.

Everything below is written down here so you can hold us to it, and so it survives a change of staff on either side.

01

Your recommended price is the price

No sales, no codes, no struck-through numbers, no seasonal events.

Tarnfell has never run a discount and does not intend to. When a customer sees your product here, the figure beside it is the figure you set, in January and in November.

We compete on knowledge rather than on price. That is a slower way to build a retail business and it is the only way we know that leaves a premium brand worth the same at the end of a year as it was at the start.

If price discipline matters to you, and for a premium maker it usually matters more than volume, this is the most useful sentence on the page.

02

Your product, described accurately

Specifications taken from you, checked before publication, corrected when you tell us.

We take specifications from the manufacturer rather than from a competitor's listing, we check them before they go live, and we correct them the day you tell us something has changed.

We do not invent performance figures, round a lead time down to look competitive, or use photography we have no licence to use. Where a number depends on conditions, we say which conditions.

03

Warranty claims stop with us

Not at your support desk, and not in a language your team has to translate.

When something fails in year three the customer emails Tarnfell. We diagnose it, gather the evidence, put it into a form your technical team can act on, and manage the customer while it is resolved.

What that buys you is fewer contacts reaching you at all, and the ones that do arriving already triaged.

04

Fewer returns, because the buyer understood it

Most returns in this category are expectation failures rather than product failures.

We agree access before dispatch: route widths, ground conditions, whether a crane is needed. We publish running costs. We tell customers what a warranty does not cover before they buy rather than after something fails.

And we publish, on the product page itself, the specific reasons somebody should not buy a given product. That removes the wrong customer before they become your return.

Who you would be dealing with

One person answers the phone, and it is this one.

Tarnfell is mine. If you appoint us, the person writing the product pages, answering the customer questions and ringing you about a warranty claim is the same person, and you are looking at him.

Ten years in property and marketing before this, most of it spent explaining expensive things to careful people who did not want to get it wrong.

What we look for

Three gates, and nothing is listed until it has passed all three.

This is the same process whether the product comes from Estonia, Finland or Guangdong.

01 · 01 We have to understand it

Construction, materials, performance, and the question most specifications never answer: what fails first, and how long that takes.

02 · 02 The claims have to hold here

Britain is mild, permanently damp, and harder on timber and outdoor electronics than a Nordic winter. Continental figures are a starting point.

03 · 03 The terms have to be proper

Warranty scope, parts availability and for how long after a model is discontinued, honest lead times, and agreement that claims are handled by us.

Where we actually are

New, deliberately small, and not pretending otherwise.

Tarnfell is a new company. The catalogue is being introduced in stages and the first trade accounts are being opened now, so we are not going to claim a trading history we do not have. What we do have is a finished retail platform built to a standard this category rarely bothers with, a clear position at the premium end, a policy of never listing a product we cannot support properly, and a growing list of customers registered against specific products before we have them. If that is the kind of stockist you want to build with, the conversation is worth having.

How to start

One email, and a person who has read it.

01

What to send us

Use the contact form and choose Supplying Tarnfell from the enquiry list.

Tell us what you make, where you make it, whether you already have UK distribution, and roughly what your trade terms look like. If you have a dealer pack, send it.

You will get a reply from somebody who has read it, within one working day.

02

On the showroom question

We do not have one, and we think that is the wrong test for this category.

A showroom answers a customer's questions in one town, during opening hours, for the people who can drive to it. The tools on this site answer the same questions everywhere in Britain, at eleven o'clock at night, for everyone.

You are welcome to point your own enquiries at them, and several of the guides would serve your customers whether or not they buy from us.
