The question is not which version to buy but whether a self build barrel is the right sauna for your garden, and this page is written to settle that.
Delivery & installation
Delivery is available across the UK and the charge is confirmed for your postcode in writing before anything is dispatched. Offshore and some remote postcodes cost more, and we tell you the figure before you commit rather than after.
The cabin arrives as a kit on one pallet, 2.2m by 1.2m by 0.87m and about 550kg, delivered by lorry to the kerbside or the nearest firm, level spot the driver can reach. From there the parts move by hand: 67 staves, the two end walls with the door and window fitted, the benches, the floor grid and the boxed heater. Two people carry everything.
Installation can be arranged where you would rather not build it yourself. Once you place your order we confirm the delivery and installation options for your location, and nothing is dispatched until you are happy with both.
Warranty
Two years on the cabin against manufacturing defects, and two years on the heater, under Harvia's published warranty terms. Registering the heater with Harvia adds a third year on it.
Harvia's terms exclude what timber does outdoors: colour change, small cracks, pitch bleeding from the spruce, and swelling or shrinking with the weather. Stones and heating elements are wear items and are excluded too. Anchoring the cabin against wind is your responsibility, and damage from a cabin that was not anchored is not covered.
Claims come to us. One email, and we deal with the distributor and Harvia on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number.
Returns
Until the order is placed with the supplier you can cancel and be refunded in full, with no reason needed.
After that the cabin is on its way from the factory, and our returns policy sets out exactly where that leaves you. Check the pallet on the day it arrives, count the parts against the list in the manual, and tell us about anything damaged or missing within 48 hours; anything that arrives damaged or faulty is ours to put right either way.

About this product
The Kuusi 180 is the barrel sauna in the range: a 2,200mm diameter cylinder of 40mm solid spruce staves, 1,800mm long, pulled tight by two steel bands and standing on four impregnated feet. Four people sit on two 600mm benches facing each other across a 686mm walkway, and the half height window in the rear wall, which is what Panorama means on this cabin, puts the garden behind you rather than a blank wall. It is the sauna for a household that wants four seats with the heater already chosen and in the price, and is happy to build it.
A barrel is a different proposition from an insulated cabin, and the difference is worth understanding before you buy rather than after. The wall is a single 40mm stave with nothing behind it, so the room loses heat faster than a cabin with insulated walls and takes longer to reach temperature on a cold night. Harvia's own sizing rule adds half again to the room volume for uninsulated timber walls, which takes the 5.6 cubic metre room to 8.4, and that is why the heater in the price is 8kW rather than the 6kW a cabin this size would otherwise carry. The heater is at the top of the 6 to 8kW range Harvia publish for this cabin, not the bottom.
That heater is the Harvia Wall SW80, 8kW, wall mounted opposite the door, with its controls built into the heater itself: a timer dial that runs the heater for up to four hours or starts it by itself up to eight hours ahead, and a thermostat dial. There is no app and no separate control panel, which is one less thing to wire and one less thing to fail. It needs a 35 amp single phase circuit, installed by an electrician, which is the least demanding electrical requirement of any sauna we sell. Its 20kg of stones come with it.
The spruce arrives untreated. Harvia recommend painting or treating the outside to extend its life and say the inside must be left bare. They also say plainly that a barrel is not fully watertight in driving rain: two drain holes in the lowest stave let water out, and the timber under the glass can mark with condensation, which is why the cabin should be dried out by heating it after wet weather. None of that is a fault. It is what a single skin timber barrel is, and the price reflects it.
There is nothing to configure. The cabin, the Panorama window, the 8mm glass door, the two benches and backrests, the floor grid, the roof shingles, the 760mm dimmable LED strip, the heater and its stones are all in the one price. The base, the electrical work and the build are yours to arrange, and this page sets out exactly what each involves.
Who this is actually for.
Every product here is described with the honest opposite beside it: who it suits, and who should be looking at something else. If none of the descriptions below fits you, the right answer is elsewhere in the range, or elsewhere entirely, and we would rather say so.
Two 600mm benches face each other across a 686mm walkway, so four adults sit with their backs to the curved wall and their feet on the floor grid. The 8kW heater, its 20kg of stones, the rear window and the LED strip are all in the £6,660, which is Harvia's recommended price with the heater in it rather than a cabin only price with the heater added at the checkout.
Worth confirmingyou want to lie down. The benches are about 1.6 metres long, which seats two each and stretches out nobody. A longer barrel or a cabin is the answer to that.
It is a kit: staves, bands, feet, two end walls and a bag of screws, put together by two people with a drill, a mallet and a spirit level over a weekend. The heater needs a 35 amp single phase circuit, which is the least demanding electrical requirement in the range, and the controls are dials on the heater itself with no app to set up.
Worth confirmingyou want it delivered built, started from your phone, or holding its heat like an insulated cabin. The wall is a single 40mm stave, so it warms fast and cools fast, and on a January night it is working harder than a cabin with insulated walls.
The product that gets used is the one worth recommending, and it is not always the largest one.
The measurements that decide it.
Read this before anything else. Things this size are almost never sent back because they were the wrong product. They are sent back because the pallet could not be set down, the parts would not reach the spot, or the ground under them was never going to hold them.
The base is the one to respect. Harvia's instructions ask for a foundation that is absolutely flat and load bearing, and they put anchoring against wind on you: a barrel is a large, light, rounded object and a gale will move one that is not fixed down. A 1.6 metre square slab, or two strip footings 1.6 metres apart, laid before the pallet arrives.

Base, access and your electrical supply are agreed before the order is placed with the supplier. You arrange the base and the circuit.

Shipped to the UK
The kit is packed at the factory and shipped to the UK distributor. The lead time is confirmed in writing before you commit, and you are told where it is in the process rather than left to wonder.

One pallet, set down outside
A lorry sets the pallet, 2.2 × 1.2 × 0.87m and about 550kg, down at the kerbside or the nearest firm spot the driver can reach. Count the parts against the list in the manual that day. You will want two people to carry them through to the base.

Feet, staves, bands, roof
The four feet go down first, then the staves are laid round the two end walls, the bands are tightened until no gap shows, and the shingles go on the roof. Two people, a drill, a mallet and a spirit level. If you would rather hand it over, installation is arranged for your location once you have ordered.

Your electrician connects it
The Harvia Wall SW80 needs a dedicated 35 amp single phase circuit in 6mm² cable, or 3 × 16A on three phase, installed and certified by a qualified electrician. The cable enters through a hole you drill in the staves behind the heater. That work is not included.
What owning one actually involves.
The handful of things that decide whether this is still in use in year three.
A flat, load bearing slab about 1.6 metres square, or two strip footings, laid before the pallet arrives. Harvia make anchoring the barrel against wind your responsibility and exclude wind damage from the warranty. The base is not included.
8kW at 230V single phase is 35 amps on a circuit of its own, in 6mm² armoured cable, installed and certified by an electrician before first use. On a three phase supply it is 3 × 16A instead. No separate control panel to wire: the timer and thermostat are on the heater.
67 staves, two bands, four feet, two end walls, benches, floor grid and shingles, with a 58 page illustrated manual. Harvia say you need manual skills and an assistant, and that every screw is pre drilled. If you would rather hand it over, installation can be arranged for your location once you have ordered.
The spruce is untreated and Harvia recommend painting the outside. Heat up: 8kW × 1 h is 8 kWh, because a single skin barrel takes longer to reach temperature than an insulated cabin. Holding: 1.5 h at roughly half duty is another 6 kWh. That is 14 kWh at 26.11p, working shown in full so you can check it.

14 kWh × 2 × 52 is 1,456 kWh. Three evenings a week is nearer £570. Both figures move with your tariff and with the weather, which is why the unit rate and the assumptions are stated rather than buried.
no cost, one dial
The timer on the heater runs it for up to four hours, or starts it by itself up to eight hours ahead. Turn the dial before you leave and the room is hot when you walk out to it. The heater only draws full power while it climbs; once hot, the thermostat cycles.
Assumptions: electricity at the Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.11p per kWh, 1 July to 30 September 2026, including VAT; an hour to temperature at full draw on the 8kW heater; thermostat cycling near half power once hot. The wall is a single 40mm spruce stave with no insulation behind it, so heat up is slower and heat loss faster than in an insulated cabin, and on a cold, windy night the real figure sits above these numbers rather than below them. Harvia's own guidance is that a well insulated room reaches temperature in about an hour; this one is not insulated. Rerun the sums at your own tariff.

Reasons to buy something else.
Delivery is by lorry to the kerbside, and the pallet is 2.2 metres long and about 550kg. A shared private road, steps to the kerb or a double parked frontage all need solving before you order, not on the day. From the kerb every part moves by hand, and the route needs to take the two end walls.
The room is 1.6 metres long and the benches are the same. Four people sit; nobody stretches out. If lying down or a larger group is the point, you want a longer barrel or a cabin, and we will point you at one rather than sell you this.
A single 40mm stave with air on both sides loses heat far faster than an insulated wall. This barrel heats quickly and cools quickly, and in January the 8kW heater is working hard to hold 80 degrees. If year round evening use at the lowest running cost is the aim, the cross laminated timber cabins in this range cost more for exactly that reason.
It is a kit, and Harvia say plainly that you need manual skills and a second pair of hands. Installation can be arranged for your location after you order, at a cost we confirm first. If neither appeals, a cabin delivered built is the honest answer.
