Which outdoor sauna should you buy? The seventeen compared

Tarnfell's outdoor range is seventeen cabins between £3,495 and £10,995 delivered, with the heater and its stones in every price. Seats, the circuit the heater asks for and how soon you can have it are what narrow it, and they do not move together. The cheapest six seat cabin in the range costs less than every barrel in it.

What are the seventeen, and what does each one cost?

Every figure below is published on the cabin's own page: the capacity the maker states, the heater that comes in the price, the protective device the heater manufacturer publishes or the current the heater draws, and the lead time quoted at the point of order. Prices were read from our own listings on 17 October 2026 and they move. Delivery to mainland Britain is included in all of them.

Holl's Onyxia Barrel (barrel, covered terrace) 6 £10,995 Harvia Vega BC80, 8kW 35A per Harvia 10 to 14 working days

Four of the seventeen publish a wall thickness, and all four publish 40mm: the two Harvia barrels and both Onyxia cabins. What the timber is actually doing in each of them, and why a thermally modified cabin asks less of you than a bare spruce one, is the subject of our guide to the best timber for a sauna. The choice between the two shapes, on heat, seating and how much garden each uses, is covered in barrel or cabin.

How many people do you need to seat, and what does that cost?

Seat count is not what sets the price in this range. The Gaïa Luna seats six at £5,995, which is less than either of the two cheapest barrels at £6,195, and both of those seat two to four. At the other end, the Onyxia Cube seats four at £10,095.

Put against the top of each maker's stated capacity, and this is our arithmetic from the prices above rather than a maker's figure, the spread per seat is wide: about £999 a seat on the Gaïa Luna, £1,083 on the Gaïa Nova, £1,233 on the Princeton and the Huntington, £2,475 on the Cocoon 130 and £2,524 on the Onyxia Cube.

Above the Gaïa Nova the money is buying construction, glazing and covered outdoor space rather than more seats. So settle capacity first, and be careful about rounding it up: a larger room takes a larger heater, so six seats cost more to heat whether two people or six are sitting in them.

Which cabins give you the most seats for the smallest circuit?

Across the seventeen the published circuit runs from 20 amps to 50. What that asks of your supply, and how to check it before you order, is in our guide to what electrical supply a garden sauna needs. For a shortlist, the useful part is that the figure follows the heater model rather than the kilowatts, and this range demonstrates it twice over.

Harvia publishes a 35 amp fuse for the Vega BC80, an 8kW heater, and a 50 amp fuse for The Wall SW80, also 8kW. Both are stated on their pages as drawing about 34.8 amps at 230 volts. Running the comparison the other way is starker still: the 6kW Harvia The Wall SW60 fitted to the Pinnacle and the Audra carries a published 40 amp fuse, five amps more than the 8kW Vega in the six seat Onyxia Barrel.

If your consumer unit and main fuse have little headroom, that reshuffles the shortlist. Three cabins seat six on Harvia's published 35 amp fuse: the Gaïa Luna, the Gaïa Nova and the Onyxia Barrel. Lower again, the two Hestias seat four to six on a stated 26.1 amp draw with the protective device sized by the installing electrician. And the two Harvia barrels take the question away altogether on their wood burning option, the Harvia Kuusi 180 Panorama and the Kaski 180 Panorama both offering the Linear 18, which needs no heater circuit at all. A chimney and its fitting arrive as a job in exchange.

None of this decides the running cost, which follows heater output and run time rather than the cabin around it, and our guide to sauna running costs works that through at the current price cap.

What does a porch or a covered terrace cost?

Five of the seventeen put covered outdoor space under the same roof as the sauna: the Hestia Lounge 210, the Orphée Lounge 240, the Almost Heaven Audra and Huntington, and the Gaïa Luna with its outside deck.

Within the Holl's range it costs £1,000 and the seats inside do not change. The Hestia Lounge 210 is £8,950 against the Hestia 160 at £7,950, and the Orphée Lounge 240 is £8,895 against the Orphée 180 at £7,895. Both differences are our subtraction from the prices above.

Within the Almost Heaven barrels it costs nothing. The Audra is the same £6,195 as the Pinnacle and the Huntington the same £7,395 as the Princeton, and both canopy models include an exterior bench under the porch. What changes is where the length goes: the Huntington's page puts it plainly, that the extra foot is given to a covered porch rather than to more room, while the Princeton's page states 2.21m of room inside.

What is covered after you order, and how soon does it arrive?

There are two warranty regimes across the seventeen. Holl's and France Sauna publish four years on the timber and two on the electronics, which covers eleven of them. Harvia and Almost Heaven publish two years on the cabin and two on the heater, and on the Almost Heaven barrels the page adds that registering the Harvia heater extends the heater cover to a third year. In every case the UK distributor administers the warranty, the cabins are sold for domestic use, and commercial or very frequent use can affect cover.

The Almost Heaven pages also set out what no sauna warranty covers: timber moving, splitting slightly or greying outdoors, which is cedar behaving normally rather than failing; sauna stones, which are consumable; and damage from installation on a base that is not flat or not load bearing. Read that last one twice before you book anything. The base is the cheapest element of the whole project and the only one that can cost you cover on the most expensive. Our guide to what base a garden sauna needs sets out what each type asks of your garden.

Lead times split three ways. Fourteen of the seventeen quote ten to fourteen or ten to fifteen working days from order. Three quote four to eight weeks: the Harvia Kuusi 180 Panorama, the Harvia Kaski 180 Panorama and the Almost Heaven Pinnacle. If you are working back from a birthday or a Christmas, ask about that figure before anything else, and expect stock and a delivery date to be confirmed in writing when the order is processed.

What this means when choosing

Six routes through the seventeen, depending on what is actually constraining you.

  • Two people, lowest outlay. The Gaïa Urban at £3,495 on a 20 amp circuit, then the Cocoon 130 at £4,950.
  • Six people for the least money. The Gaïa Luna at £5,995 if you want the deck, the Gaïa Nova at £6,495 if your plot is square and you prefer three benches.
  • A supply with little headroom. The two Hestias at a 26.1 amp draw for four to six, or one of the three six seat cabins on a published 35 amp fuse.
  • No new circuit at all. A Harvia barrel with the Linear 18 wood burning stove, accepting the chimney work and the sweeping that comes with it.
  • Covered outdoor space without paying for it. The Audra or the Huntington, at the same price as their uncovered equivalents.
  • The longest cover on the timber. Any Holl's or France Sauna cabin, at four years on the structure.

All seventeen sit in the outdoor sauna range, and the five decisions that sit above this one, format, size, heating, base and siting, are set out in the outdoor sauna buying guide.
